This invention is a new thrust manoeuvring system featuring rotary wing kinematics for at least two rotor blades connected to a motor generator. The blades are divided into sections. Actuators are arranged within the hollow profile of the rotor support structure. The blade profile of each rotor blade is asymmetrical and can be adjusted during rotation. The suction and pressure sides of the blades change from outside to inside the orbit, or vice versa at a diameter to be aligned transversely to the direction of travel. The new thrust manoeuvring system allows this diameter to be be aligned perpendicular to the direction of travel in at least one longitudinal section of the rotor blades of a rotary wing vehicle. Consequently, the suction side of the asymmetrical profile of the rotor blades can be aligned with the direction of travel in both halves of the orbit. Consequently, a thrust force acting in the direction of travel is generated, resulting from the lift force acting on the asymmetric profile. In the rotor blade turbine, the device is designed so that the turning points of the rotor blades can be aligned at right angles to the flow in all longitudinal sections. In this configuration, the suction side of the asymmetric airfoil is aligned with the leeward side in both halves of the orbit. Consequently, the turbine generates a tangential driving force from the lift force exerted by the airfoil.

In this embodiment of the invention, the flow over the variable rotor blades is deflected by a Reuleaux triangle-shaped displacement body. This eliminates the thrust limitation characteristic of a Voith Schneider propeller at speeds of more than 8 knots and enables higher speeds.

This ferry serves as an example of a new maneuvering and propulsion system for ships with shallow drafts, which is particularly suitable for inland waters with changing water levels. The new hull design features recesses at the bow and stern into which four electrically powered rotary wing rotors can be integrated. This allows the ferry's draft to be limited to between 0.7 m and approx. 1.5 m. A remarkable feature of the rotary wing kinematics is that the Reulaux triangle-shaped displacement bodies are designed to deflect the flow so that the variable rotor blades are approached at an angle of attack that generates thrust. This innovative rotary wing drive therefore enables higher cruising speeds than a Voith Schneider propeller. The Reulaux triangle can be aligned with its tip or its blunt side in the direction of travel. In each orbital position, the rotational wing kinematics of the three-part rotor blades generate thrust that can be directed in any direction within seconds.

The propulsion system for this large container ship consists of four turbines with a new type of counter flow rotor kinematics. The electric motor of the ship's propulsion system is located inside a vessel whose outer shell is formed by a symmetrical wing stub. A flow guide in this wing stub ensures that the asymmetrical wing profiles of the rotor are impinged by a counter flow. An outlet for the flow is provided on the suction side of the blade stub. The surrounding outer shell shields the rotor from the external flow caused by the ship's cruising speed so that there is no unwanted overlap between the cruising and circulating speeds. This arrangement prevents the creation of rotational flow within the inner shell of the stub, with the negative influence of the ship's cruising speed being shielded by the rotor shell. The suction sides of the asymmetrical blades are variable and have two reversal points aligned on a diameter perpendicular to the direction of travel, which can be rotated in a circle of 360 degrees in a few seconds to turn the ship in a different direction. The container ship has a hull-integrated propulsion system, in which four propulsion units are integrated into a drive channel that extends from the bow to the stern of the ship.

This large container ship's propulsion system consists of four turbines with a new type of rotary wing kinematics for a counter-flow system. The ship's electrical engine is housed inside a vessel whose outer shell is formed by a symmetrical stub wing. A flow guide in the wing stub ensures that the rotor's asymmetrical wing profiles are impinged by a counterflow. An exit opening for the flow is provided on the suction side of the wing stub. The outer shell surrounding the wing stub shields the rotor from the external flow caused by the ship's cruising speed, preventing any undesirable overlap between the cruising and circulating speeds. This prevents rotational flow from being created within the inner shell of the stub wing and shields the negative influence of the vessel's speed of travel from the rotor shell. The suction sides of the asymmetric wing profiles have two reversing points aligned on a diameter perpendicular to the direction of travel. These points can be turned through 360 degrees in a matter of seconds to change the direction of the ship. The container ship has a hull-integrated propulsion system comprising four propulsion units integrated into a drive channel extending from the bow to the stern.
