This big wheel is not intended to waste your time, but rather to capture your full attention and demonstrate its unique advantages. The big wheel can be built with diameters that exceed those of state-of-the-art wind turbines. The rotor has a lightweight structure consisting of an outer compression ring, a nozzle and V-shaped tension cables arranged in a radial pattern. The rotor blades themselves lie in a rotor plane and extend from the outer compression ring of the wheel to the outer and inner sides. Each rotor blade is twisted and consists of several straight longitudinal sections, the nose and leading segments of which can be adjusted to create either a positive or negative angle of incidence relative to the incoming flow. In other words: The suction side of the asymmetric wing profile can switch from a leeward to a windward orientation. If the suction side of every second or third rotor blade is oriented towards the windward side, this will not only provide a means of gradually slowing down the rotation of the wheel, but also create thrust in the opposite direction to the wind. This helps to reduce the bending moment on the supporting forked mast.

The big wheel can be built with diameters which lay beyond the diameters of state of the art wind turbines. A lightweight structure is used for the rotor, consisting of an outer compression ring, a nozzle and V-shaped tension cables arranged in radial order. The rotor blades themselves lay in a rotor plane and are cantilevered from the wheels outer compression ring to the outer side as well as to the inside. A rotor blade is twisted in itself and consists of a plurality of straight longitudinal sections in which the nose segment and the leading segment are adjustable in a way to either have a positive or a negative angle of incidence respective to the incoming flow. In other words: The suction side of the asymmetric wing profile can be switched from the leeward orientation to the windward orientation. Supposed, the suction side of every second or every third rotor blade is oriented to the windward side, the effect will be not only to have a gradually adjustable means to slow down the rotation of the wheel, but also to create thrust opposite to the direction of the wind, which helps to reduce the bending moment on the supporting forked mast.

With a mutational leap in the conversion power of a wind turbine is possible when supported by a giant spoked wheel. This new technology makes wind turbines with a capacity of 30 to 40 MW possible. For example, orienting the intake side of every third rotor blade in the wind direction results in two effects: Firstly, the circumferential speed is reduced, and secondly, the overturning moment of the bifurcated mast is reduced.
