RES HAWT Rim 1
#reshawtrim1 Healing Lignite Excavation Sites: https://lnkd.in/eF8ym7ws
A new type of wind turbine, the RES Mega Wheel, is cleaning up the atmosphere. Around sixty of these turbines are enough to provide the same electrical power as the lignite-fired power plant shown here. The film shows a leap forward in the size and power of wind turbines. With a diameter of 250 metres, these giant wheels deliver 50 MW per unit and far surpass the dimensions of conventional turbines. Just one of these turbines can replace up to twenty conventional ones. A complete rotation takes more than a minute, providing a spectacle for the observer with its slow revolving motion. Despite their size, the ecological impact of 'Repowering' will be relatively insignificant due to the scale of this innovation and the relatively slow speed of the wind turbine, which reaches maximum efficiency at three and a half times the wind speed. #reshawtrim2 Wheels Driven by Mountain Winds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btxyr_ZN4I4&list=PLrH7wSzFs4Kj4nbqOkO-tZdfsrHt6gZtA&index=9
Somewhere in southern Switzerland, these Mega Wheels are producing an unknown quantity of electricity – around 50 MW per unit! The load-bearing structure of the RES Mega Wheel comprises a spoked wheel with 15 radial rotor blades on the windward side and 15 prestressed steel cables on the leeward side, which tension the rim to the hub of the wheel. The rim itself features a large, rigid wing with an asymmetric profile, with the nose facing the wind and the suction side facing the outer perimeter of the wheel, where thirty rotor blades are positioned like satellites around the rim. The suction side of these rotor blades changes orientation in the rotation plane from the outside to the inside of the wing. Due to the widening of the flow column in the rotation plane, the incoming flow hits both the ring wing and the rotor blades at an angle (RES-α). Regarding the rotor blades, the conical angle on the windward side guides the flow away from the wheel's rotational axis, while on the leeward side, laminar flow is guided towards the axis of rotation. Two thirds of the torque is produced by the radial rotor blades, and one third by the satellite rotor blades. Given that the structural diameter of the RES Mega Wheel is smaller than its aerodynamic diameter, the wheel's conversion efficiency exceeds that predicted by the Betz law.

RES HAWT Rim 3
#reshawtrim3 One Turbine Instead Of Ten Others: https://lnkd.in/eAvf6MkU
These elegant spoked wheels are slowly and steadily turning somewhere on a shallow bank in the North Sea. The RES Mega Wheel's rim, consisting of a circular rotor blade, contributes to the aerodynamically created torque of the wind turbine. The circular rotor blade features an asymmetric profile and also defines the wheel's rotational speed, provoking stall when the speed exceeds a defined threshold. Fifteen radial rotor blades are connected to prestressed steel cables on the windward side, and a further fifteen prestressed cables connect the rim to the hub. In my opinion, future 50 MW wind turbines will resemble these. Another advantage of the system is that the circular rotor blade creates thrust in the opposite direction to the wind, thereby relieving the turbine's load-bearing structure.
